Children are such a blessing, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have time to yourself every once in awhile. Running a home with pets, kids, chores and everything else that comes into the mix can be exhausting. Taking a bit of time out to get clarity and space can often be done in a couple of minutes when you’re a busy parent – a snatched breather, if you like – but it’s when we have time to play with that stuff starts to get confusing. When you’re given a certain amount of time and you’re so busy doing all of the other things, but don’t have them to do, it can be hard to know what to actually fill it with. It’s a catch 22 situation … we crave this time to come, but don’t know what to do with it.
Take Up Exercise
Not only is exercise good for your health, but it’s great to get a break away from everything. A lot of people who run claim that it’s the best thing to do to clear your head and escape from what’s on your mind. It doesn’t have to be running that you take up, though. If you prefer to do team sports, think about what you enjoyed doing at school and look to see if there is someone operating a club near you. Popular team sports include basketball, soccer and baseball, and you can have some fun whilst still getting a workout.
Give Time To Charity
If you know that you still want to be doing something good with your spare time, consider giving it to charity. This can be anything from working in a soup kitchen for a couple of hours, sitting down and chatting to those who are homeless and seeing what can be done about their situation or even fundraising by hosting an event. You could even get your children involved in this – bake sales and yard sales are so fun for them to be a part of. Once kids have caught a hold of something, they can often get their school or friends involved into what you’re doing and the fundraising and awareness can increase. Start Crafting or Baking
Not only are these two things good for calming you down and getting you focused on something for a set amount of time, but the results can be absolutely fantastic. As well as being something to be proud of, a lot of the time they can also be utilized in other ways. For example, if you have made something that you yourself would buy, why not try selling it on a site like Etsy? Or if it’s a baked good, you could try putting photos on your social media accounts and seeing if anyone would like to purchase for a party they may be hosting.
