I woke up late, tired, unsure if I was even human. I somehow managed to climb out of bed and stumble into the bathroom to get the sleep out of my eyes and morning breath banished. I get the kid up, fed and ready for […]

In many ways finance is pretty simple: you need to spend less than you earn. But, as easy as it is to say, it’s not so easy to make sure that you follow this advice all the time.
Sometimes spending is a good thing and you should be able to use your money to enjoy yourself and have a fulfilling life. Other times, it is better to save so that you can achieve financial security and look after your future needs.
Pay Off Your Debts
If you have any debts, paying them off should take priority. High-interest debts should be paid off first and as fast as you can to avoid excessive fees. You might also have lower interest, long-term debts like a mortgage. While paying this type of debt off early is a good idea, you don’t need to be quite as determined as long as you can afford the monthly repayments.
Prioritize paying off the highest interest debt first and overpay that account until it is closed while you continue to make minimum payments to other lenders. Work through the list systematically until you have paid everything off. If you are struggling, or you aren’t sure how best to approach your own situation, have a look at repair.credit for more advice.
Save for a Rainy Day
There is a lot of different advice about having emergency funds and some people may not need them at all. Where some people think that 3 months worth of living expenses is perfectly reasonable, others argue that this money could be put to better use in the meantime.
While opinions vary on what your financial safety net should be made up of and how much you should have in savings, it is clear that you should have something to fall back on should disaster strike.
Achieve Your Goals
Saving for the future is always going to be a good idea, but it is possible that you can over-do it and save too much at the expense of enjoying your life now. If you are naturally frugal and careful with your money, this is great, but don’t make money the be all and end all of your life.
Spending now instead of saving for later can also be a good way to invest in your future. For example, you might want to spend some money pursuing an interest that could later be the foundation for your own business. Or perhaps you would love to travel the world and don’t want to leave it too late.
Think hard about what your life’s goals are as well as how and when you want to achieve them. This should help you to decide whether to spend or to save.
Life is short and you will only have one opportunity to make the most of it. While you might be tempted to splurge it all, do make sure that you plan ahead and think about your future needs. On the other hand, don’t be so concerned with the future that you forget about living well today.
Spending and saving are all about achieving a happy balance.
Disclosure I was provided with the product and compensation for my honest review of these products. All opinions are my own.
A while back I did a review of Kwik Stix and let’s just say, they do not disappoint. Mini was 2 at the time and has loved them. I actually may love them more than her if we’re being honest. The fact that I could let a child paint and didn’t have to worry about putting her in a giant bubble, was a great relief. Plenty of times they rolled off the table and onto the floor but I didn’t stress about it. I’d just get a wet cloth and dab it up. Naturally it would end up on her hands and her hands would make their way to her mouth but good news parents, these are NON-TOXIC!
Kwik Stix reached out to me again and asked if I’d be interested in trying out their newest product, Magic Stix. Well do kids love sugar? Of course I wanted to try them out. They are my new favorite thing. I have been using them more than the kid actually.
These have no odor to them, the cap is vented for safety and the colors are just as bright as they appear on the pen. But what really sold me on them, they do not dry out for seven days, SEVEN, with a cap off. Kids aren’t the greatest about getting caps back on markers before they put them away, mine included. With 12 color that wash off her hands, my table and clothes, they’re a blast for every day play.
Get a set here.
I honestly can’t recommend these enough. I will be getting them for gifts for the kids in our family. The Kwik Stix are great for little hands. Takes a bit of elbow grease for little ones to get the caps off, which is nice as a parent because even with them washing off, I don’t want my kid going crazy and painting the walls. Because I don’t have time to clean that up, nor do I want to. With such vibrant colors when they dry, pictures seem to pop more.
They even have them available for purchase in the 6 pack at Walgreen’s stores. Trust me, these are worth getting. Inexpensive with hours of entertainment.
If you haven’t had a chance, I definitely recommend getting a set.
Hope you enjoy them as much as we do. You can get a Kwik Stix set here.
Every owner wants their dog to be healthy. Because having a pet is like having another child. When you first get your puppy, they become your baby. And as they grow, they become more and more like one of your children. And as such, you’re going to always want the best for them. Not only does that mean you want them to be as happy as they can be, but you want them to be their healthiest self too. And as much as you may feel like you know what’s best for you dog – they are your pet after all, you might not. Because if you really want your pet to be healthy, there are certain things you should never do.
Feed Them Human Food
When you’re using to your dog hanging around your heels as you cook, you probably take one look at those pretty puppy dog eyes and throw them a little somethin’ somethin’. But don’t. Feeding them “human” food isn’t always the best idea. Nutrition is a huge part of health for a dog – just as much as it is to humans. But dogs have different dietary needs. Feeding them fats and sugars will not be good for their health, and can lead to health complications. So as much as those eyes might beg, try to keep away from feeding them what you eat.
Let Them Get Lazy
When your dog doesn’t want to go for a walk today and just wants to lay by the fire instead, it’s tempting to let them off – just because. If they don’t feel like it, what’s the harm? Well, this is the slippery slope down to inactiveness. And it’s essential to your dog’s health that they are able to keep active. As much as you might want them to be happy, it’s all about the tough love. An active dog is a happy dog, remember that.
Forget The Vet
We get it, you’re busy. But we all are. And that’s no excuse to forget about taking your dog to the vet. Okay, so when they’re ill or there’s a real problem, you’re probably the first one to be running along to the vet. But if your dog is going to be healthy, they need regular checkups. Take them once a year as a minimum to get checked over. You wouldn’t skip your routine checkups, so don’t let your dog.
Assume They’re Protecting Themselves
You know how we have the ability to fight off viruses, you may think dogs do too. But you could be forgetting one vital thing – we get shots when we’re young. Shots that protect us from certain things. So you need to be doing the same for your dog and protecting them too. With the right products, like the Seresto flea collar for dogs, you can. Then, you know that they’ll be protected from parasites at all times.
And finally, never overfeed them. Obesity can be a real health concern for dogs, just as it is for humans. It can put a lot of strain on their joints as well as their organs. So you want to make sure that you keep them in a healthy weight range, and never overfeed them.
Like it or not, most relationships will come to an end at some point according to statistics. Indeed, around 50% of modern marriages end in divorce these days. It’s a sad fact, but it’s true. Adults can handle relationship breakdowns in most instances because they […]
