When you have your first baby, life changes dramatically forever. You soak up every second getting to know the new little person in your life. And you’ll need plenty of time to get to know yourself in your new role with all your new priorities. This can take weeks, months, or even years. Then one day, you’ll realize you’ve never had a family vacation together. It’s only when you start trying to plan for it that you realize why you’ve never had a family vacation together!
Traveling anywhere with a newborn is really tough. Nursing on a plane, by the pool, or in a fancy hotel restaurant can feel uncomfortable for some first time moms. For a start, it can get a little messy at times, and you need to know you can change your outfit easily if you need to. Then, of course, is baby’s vocal range. Even though you shouldn’t, you can’t help but feel under pressure when your little one decides it’s time to check your hearing.
Packing. Where do you even start? It took long enough to get your home nursery organized. How on earth do you replicate that when you’re on the road, on a plane, or in a hotel room? And if you’re not nursing, you may need to consider how you’re going to keep the bottles sterile and the milk chilled. Used nappies? Carry with, or discreetly find a trash can?
You’ve probably figured out by now that baby wipes go everywhere with you no matter what. But what happens if your baby’s clothes are beyond saving with a wipe and a rinse? Just how many outfits should you pack? The list of worries and things to pack will go on and on. In fact, you might spend so long trying to streamline your change bag, you forget about the dog! He’ll need his vacation accommodation and veterinary checks organized before you go too. You can try places like Folsom Dog Resort so he can make the most of his time away as well.
One of the most difficult things to cope with when you travel is the change to routines. You might have set times for napping and feeding. Even if you like to be baby-led with these activities, there will be times when you can’t offer your little one what he needs as he cries for it. Long periods of travel can be hard. There is a lack of fresh air and a lot more strange noises and odors for your little one to deal with. Packing comforters and favorite toys is essential.
When you finally arrive at your destination, be prepared for some mix-ups in the booking. Even if you booked a family room with a crib, you might have to remind a member of staff to set one up. In the meantime, you can’t put your little one down anywhere for a much-needed sleep. Moms are experts at planning, organizing, and coming up with B-plans. So don’t panic. Relax. You’re on vacation. And you’re all going to be fine.

Every parent fears of the day they lose touch with their kids. When you have a baby, you want to give them all your attention. Then, when they’re toddlers, all they care about is you. They never leave you alone! But, as they get older, your connection with them can weaken. So, here are some tips to ensure this doesn’t happen:

Speak To Them About Their Day
When you’re a child, you tend to speak to your parents a lot. Especially when you first start going to school. You’re eager to tell them about your day, and they’re happy to listen. Then, somewhere along the line, you stop telling them about your day. As a result, they stop asking. So, you end up speaking to your parents a lot less than you did when you were little. Now, as a parent, you’re in a position to ensure this doesn’t happen to you. Make sure you ask your child about their day in school. This is so important for continuing to develop a bond and connection between the two of you. It encourages them to speak more, and they’ll feel comfortable telling you stuff. You have to seem interested too, don’t zone out and look bored.
Find Something The Two Of You Can Enjoy Together
A lot of the time, you can feel distant from your kids as they don’t share your interests. They like doing one thing, and you’d rather do another. The solution to this problem couldn’t be any easier. You should find a new thing that the two of you can do together. Often, I find the best way to encourage this is by buying a gift. For example, there are electric vehicles for kids that you can buy. Get your child a mini dirt bike, and then you have something cool to do together. You can take them out to a place where they can zoom around on their new toy. It’s a great way to bond, and a fantastic idea to take up time on a boring weekend. I find this is particularly effective for connecting with your boys. There are calmer ideas too, such as buying a puzzle for you and your child to complete. It doesn’t have to be a boring jigsaw, just something that takes time and needs more than one person.

Take Them Out For A Treat
Now and then, it’s good to take your children out for a treat. If you have kids of multiple ages, then you may need to go for a few trips! It’s better to spend time with them individually than as a group. You’ll likely spend lots of group time with your kids, so, you should set some time aside for each of them. This can help you strengthen your bond with each of your children. Take them to do something they enjoy. This could include watching a movie in the cinema or going shopping. Buy them dinner and make them feel happy. While out, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to talk to them too. It’s a great way to connect, trust me.
I hope this advice helps you have a better relationship with your children. No one wants to lose touch with their kids, try and stay connected forever!

Halloween is always full of tricks and treats. In my house it’s mostly the latter (and then I have to buy more candy the date of). With the mini in an age of dressing up in a different costume every five minutes, this is a perfect time of year for us.
Unfortunately, the Pacific Northwest had been hit with some awful weather and ruining all of our plans, forcing us inside. We’ve managed to find things to do but sometimes you just want to cuddle up and watch a movie. We love movies in our home. And Netflix has a lot of fun Halloween movies that are family appropriate.
Here are some great ones we’ve found for you to enjoy with your little loves.
- Room on the Broom
- Curious George A Halloween Boofest
- Mickey’s House of Villians
- Pac’s Scary Halloween
- Power Rangers Samuri: Party Monster
- Children’s Favorites: Halloween Treats
- Disney’s Spooky Buddies
- Alan and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein
- DreamWorks Spooky Stories
- Casper’s Scare School
- Alan and the Chipmunks Meet the Werewolf
- Disney Girl vs. Monster
- Vampire Dog
- DreamWorks Spooky Stories 2
- A Monster in Paris
- Casper’s Scare School
- Escape to Witch Mountain
- Magic Puppy
- Shrek’s Swamp Story
- Monster High
What would you add to this list? I personally am not a fan of scary movies or even suspenseful movies so these are great for us to watch.
