Just over a month until Santa Claus comes to visit Audrey in her home. She is not letting us forget either. In typical two year old fashion she will loudly announce, “Mom! Santa come see me? I be good.” When a Christmas song comes on […]

Being a mom of a busy toddler, a homemaker, writer and the gotofixeruppermakeverythingbetter lady is quite the exhausting role. I’m stoked for bed time. I rejoice in it like being a young me at the *NSYNC concert. Did I just date myself? Audrey is supposed […]
If it isn’t clear already, I love DIY projects. I grew up around men who fixed it themselves if it was broken. My Granddad worked construction most of his life and had my dad join him. Being an only child, I wanted to be involved in everything they were working on. You pick up things here and there. I know my tools and how to use them. When I met Jake in high school, he was near graduating and was planning on going into a sheet metal apprenticeship. He’s my Mr. Fixit.
My mom always bought me projects to do. Fimo clay, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and paint. You name it and my mom and I probably did it. Although I have yet learn how to blow glass. My luck I’d get it all over myself. My parents were always willing to push my creative boundaries with me.
Now that I have a child of my own, crafts are even more fun. Audrey loves to use playdoh, draw pictures and especially paint. In fact we make a lot of hand print art as gifts. You can find my previous tutorial here.
I got a set of paint sticks in the mail for Audrey. We decided that we should of course start working with them immediately. She has used them everyday since. They are not messy and I am shocked at how fast they dry. Perfect for kids.
These Kwik Stix are amazing. Made from Tempera paint aka poster paint. They wash right out of clothes and I have not used a smock for Audrey with them. You do need to make sure the cap is on tight after each use to keep them lasting. They screw up just like a glue stick. They dry in 90 seconds or faster if it’s not a thick spot.
So far we’ve used them on different types of paper and I have loved the results. You’re supposed to be able to use them on wood and canvas but we haven’t gotten that far. These are my new go to for when I need to keep het occupied. The cap isn’t too easy for her to remove. But a good bit of elbow grease and she can get it. My favorite thing about them is the color. They’re vibrant and fun.
You can find them on Amazon and they’re definitely worth every penny. $12 for the 12 pack. A great stocking stuffer for kids. I am giving away a 6 pack of them to a lucky reader. Fill out the form below for your chance to win. Here is the legal mumbo jumbo.

40% of groceries are thrown away every year. That’s $165 billion dollars just tossed in the garbage. The average family of four is spending between $625 and $1252 a month on their grocery bills. I’m ashamed to admit we were one of those families. A […]
