7 People You See When You Run Errands

7 People You See When You Run Errands

As I am searching for onions, I start hearing this screeching noise, followed closely by a loud, “Gah, what ever! You know I don’t eat the plain kind!” Geeze, apparently she doesn’t eat the plain kind of something. I’m getting distracted by the yelling and […]

Why did we even buy you gifts?

Why did we even buy you gifts?

You are so excited when you wake up. Jump out of bed and run downstairs. Who needs to pee when they first get up, certainly not an excited child on Christmas morning. As you skid around the corner to see what Santa brought you, your […]

Link-Up: Tell Mama All About It

When I started my blog, the original and main goal was to help other stay-at-home moms. I felt so alone on this journey of motherhood. I didn’t understand how people survived it. Then I realized that the mom’s in the 50’s weren’t alone. They had their girlfriends who also stayed home with their kids. They lived in their cookie cutter homes and had their best gal pals, Joy and Ruth, on the same block. Life was a lot simpler back then. Jim went to work while Mary stayed home and minded the kids, cooked a full meal that was hot on the table when Jim walked in the door and made sure the home was always clean.
At the time Jake and I first discussed the idea of me being home after we started a family (this convo was a million years ago) I thought to myself, I will get up before the children, get myself showered, dressed and done up. Then I will start breakfast and wake them up with time to still eat a full meal and get ready for the day’s activities. Audrey will be 2 at the end of March. I have slept through the night maybe 10 times (that’s stretching it) since she was born. My hair has been curled probably 2 dozen times and I have worn makeup for a total of maybe 40-50 days and that is not in a row. I had more energy when I was pregnant than I do now. And who’s fault is that? Mine! I am the crazy lady with seriously unrealistic expectations of how my life should be.
This is how I begin my day, only way less dolled up.
This is how I begin my day, only way less dolled up.

I seem to go, go, go and not take a break. Then I get to the point of resentment and don’t want to be near my own family. That’s not fair to them. I really don’t want to be that lady on tv screaming, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” The point of having a family is to have people to share your love with. That’s hard to do when you’re exhausted and just found your toddler with a permanent marker. Honestly, I am tired of being so damn tired! No one can control your life if you don’t let them, unless you have a small child. Then you’re just doomed.

Delicious Treats For Our Four Legged Family

Delicious Treats For Our Four Legged Family

If you haven’t figured it out from the title of my blog, I have an all liver bloodhound. Her name is Tara, after Tara Knowles on Sons of Anarchy. She’s my other baby. She’s my best cuddler. Also, my most disgusting family member. It used to […]

My Favorite Holiday Movies

My Favorite Holiday Movies

My first job was working at Hollywood Video. Remember the video store that you walked in and they said, “Hi, Welcome to Hollywood!” They wore those hideous cummerbunds and bow ties. They wanted to be the host at the old movie houses. Yea, […]

Gift Ideas #merryblogmas

That crazy Uncle, the mom who has her house stuffed to the brim or your husband who just buys it when he needs it. We all have someone like that in our lives that are almost impossible to shop for. I know that I have a lot of those, Jake, who drive me crazy this time of year trying to find something.  When it comes to gift giving, I pride myself on giving amazing and perfect gifts. My sister-in-law is the easiest to shop for. We think so much alike. So what to get the impossible to shop for person other than cash or a gift card?

NOT CLOTHES unless they ask for a specific item. It’s way to personal of item that can easily offend the receiver. Do you notice that someone likes to wear simple necklaces? Those are a great gift, just make sure there aren’t any metal allergies first. Have they mentioned wanting to hang up family photos? Find a frame that says something about family and can hold multiple photos and get some empty smaller frames to go with it. Just make sure it’s not too big for their home. 20141126_121042

Have a guy who likes to be outdoors? Flannel lined jeans are great and don’t hit the category of being too personal. What about that picky teen? Depending on your budget you could win with anything from iPod/phone accessories to a pair of nice headphones. Now, have a picky mother or mother-in-law? You can never go wrong with something made by your kids if you have any. Or look around their house, does she have something that needs to be updated? Maybe a nice crockpot, or if she likes to host dinner parties, a nice serving platter.

Now, on to the kids, my dear friend Ana at Mommy’s Bundle  has a great holiday gift guide for kids. Check it out here. Do you have someone who is a little bit outside the box? Check out Etsy for them. Etsy has anything from vintage to hand made items.

So, what would you add to the list for those hard to shop for folks?
